Mark Sorensen’s base salary to be $207,000 – Chico Enterprise-Record

CHICO — Chico announced Thursday that it would be bringing aboard former mayor and Biggs city administrator Mark Sorensen as its permanent city manager.

With the final approval happening via vote at the upcoming Tuesday Chico City Council meeting, the agenda attached the proposed contract with Sorensen which has his annual salary set at $207,000, not counting benefits and additional pay.

Former city manager Mark Orme, according to Transparent California, made $207,55 in base pay plus $5,700 in “other pay” and $117,590 in benefits, putting his total pay at $330,790.

According to Sorensen’s contract, he will receive an additional $400 per month in order for him to use his own vehicle for conducting business related to the city. Upon contract approval, Sorensen will get 14 years’ worth of service credit toward CalPERS retirement.

Other benefits will include life insurance, long-term disability insurance, medical insurance, dental insurance and vision insurance.
