Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage is the nation’s leading final expense program.

Although they sell a lot of policies, they likely are not your best option.

Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance is expensive.  They also have low policy limits. Other insurance providers offer significantly lower rates, higher coverage amounts, and greater flexibility to customize your policy.

If you’re considering buying life insurance from Lincoln Heritage, we strongly suggest quoting other carriers before making a policy purchase.

Below we review the Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage Program and explain why we don’t think anyone should buy this policy.

Review of Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance – Funeral Advantage Program

It’s important to understand that the Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance Company is not like other insurance providers.  Rather than offering multiple coverage options to fit their customer’s needs, they offer a single policy called the Funeral Advantage Program.

Lincoln Heritage has a one size fits all approach to life insurance. In our opinion, this is a terrible way to go about protecting your loved ones.

Funeral Advantage Program Policy Details

The Funeral Advantage Program helps reduce or eliminate your funeral and burial cost so that your loved ones don’t suffer a financial burden after you pass.

How much coverage can I get? With Funeral Advantage, you can get up to $20,000 in cash paid directly to your loved ones upon death notification. While $20,000 is enough to cover the average funeral, many individuals need between $10,000 – $40,000 to help pay for additional end-of-life costs such as credit card bills and medical debts.  Other insurance providers offer higher cover amounts, more options, and, again, lower rates.

Is there a medical exam? There is no medical exam; however, there is a health questionnaire, and not everyone qualifies.  Depending on your health, you may be eligible for either the standard or modified policy.  The modified plan increases your rates even further and enforces a two year waiting period before you’re eligible for the full death benefit.

If you have a pre-existing medical condition, it’s likely that you will fail to qualify for the standard policy and will be offered a modified plan.

Lincoln Heritage Funeral Advantage Modified Plan

The modified life insurance plan from Lincoln Heritage is worse than their standard plan.  The rates increase dramatically, and they enforce a two-year waiting period before you’re eligible for the full death benefit.

If you have a pre-existing medical condition, our agency can connect you to other insurance providers who have more lenient underwriting.  We’ll connect you to the carrier who treats your condition most favorably and offers the lowest rates.  Almost every carrier we represent offers better policies than the Modified Life Insurance Plan from Lincoln Heritage.

** Lincoln Heritage does not offer guaranteed acceptance coverage **

If you suffer from severe health complications, several top-rated insurance providers offer guaranteed acceptance life insurance policies. There are no medical exams or any health questions whatsoever.  As long as you’re between ages 50 and 85, you cannot be turned down due to your health.  If you have severe health complications, our agency is here to help you find the best guaranteed acceptance policy available in your state.

Benefits of Lincoln Heritage Life Insurance

As mentioned above, it is our opinion that buying Lincoln Heritage Life insurance is a bad idea.  We have stressed their lack of options and extremely high rates. That being said, they are the number one final expense company in the country.  They have achieved this through savvy marketing and offering an extremely simple product.

If we’re going to say something positive about Lincoln Heritage, it’s a compliment on enrollment’s simplicity. Their application process is super simple and takes mere minutes to complete.

Additionally, they also offer free membership into Funeral Consumer Guardian Society (FCGS) with every policy.  This benefit helps you save money on funeral expenses and provides a concierge to help you loved ones coordinate your funeral when the time comes.

In our view, these are the only two benefits of the Funeral Advantage Program.

Negatives Of Buying Life Insurance From Lincoln Heritage

RATES.  Compared to other providers, Lincoln Heritage rates are 20 – 200% higher.  They have very savvy marketing and a very pushy sales force.  Anyone who takes the time to shop and compare policies and rates will quickly discover how overpriced these policies are.

Only one policy option.  When it comes to life insurance, there is no one size fits all. There are dozens of insurance providers offering final expense life insurance with more than one policy option.  Smart shoppers will take the time to shop before they buy.

Financial Ratings

Although we are rather critical of Lincoln Heritage, they do hold strong financial ratings and are a secure company to do business with.

Their AM Best rating is A- (Excellent).  And their BBB Rating is A+.

The company has positioned itself to be around for many years to come.

Finding Your Best Policy

This article aimed to highlight the underwhelming aspects of buying life insurance from Lincoln Heritage.  Their rates are high, and they only have one policy option.
