Elizabeth Mooney Obituary (1932 – 2002) – Bethlehem, PA

Date:

Elizabeth A. Mooney, 70 of Bethlehem died Saturday, Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at Holy Family Manor in Bethlehem. Born May 18, 1932, in Bronx, NY she was the only child of the late Jeremiah Gerald Horgan and Nora (Burke) Horgan. She would have been married to her husband James Mooney for 42 years in August.

Bette, as she was known, was a graduate of St. Vincent Ferrer High School in New York. Her first job out of school was at New York Life Insurance where she worked until she was expecting her first child. After her children were in school, she went to work as a bookkeeper for The Blind Association of Bethlehem. When she wasn’t working, she was a very active and involved mother and homemaker. She went to great lengths decorating and caring for the family’s home. Home cooked meals every night and her outgoing personality made the house a hangout amongst her children’s friends, to which she took great delight. She was extremely devoted to her family and family always came first.

She was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church in Bethlehem where she and her family were very active.
